How Much Can You Make Selling Information Products Online?

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

By Lee Noble

One of the best ways of earning passive income online is to sell information products. What that means is that you are no longer swapping your time for money, the money comes in while you are ‘passive’ – hence the term “Passive income”. The way it works is that you make or build your product once and put up a site on which to market it. Then the website does all the work for you, selling your product over and over again. What sort of income could you expect to make online selling information?

Well, you can do forecasts based on the industry averages to make a prediction of your potential. The industry average for selling downloadable products via a website is about 1%, that is 1 in every 100 people that visit the site will buy the product. So if you can get 200 people to visit your site each day, and 1% buys a product (say the price is $40) then at 2 sales each day, your site would average $80 per day, $560 per week which makes $2240 per month. Do you think you’d like an extra $2240 a month passive income?

Earning passive income of over $2000 a month would probably make quite a difference to most people’s lifestyle, what about yours? Of course those numbers are based on only 200 visitors a day, what if you could get more? What if you could get 500 or 1000? Of course there are some products that will sell at a higher or lower conversion rate; however 1% is a good average to calculate your figures on.

Some people just set up one site and let it tick over without doing anything else, others will choose to duplicate the process over and over giving them the opportunity to leave their day jobs. There is a couple in Australia who have done just that, they made over $200,000 their first year of their online ventures.

For some, it is possible to create a business around a topic, selling more and more products in that niche. For others, finding new ideas constantly and setting up websites in several niches is the way to go. You can expand your business by making other products for those who bought the original product. Make something in the same niche and market it to them. This can work very well and give you repeat customers over and over again. You can even expand on this idea and create an ongoing membership package for which people will pay you a monthly fee to keep receiving your information.

Selling information online is a really great way to create a passive income for yourself.

Selling information products is an effective way to set up a business that earns passive income.

Make Money Spending Time with Your Daughter

Make Money Spending Time with Your Daughter

Joan loves spending time with her three daughters especially since she is a single mom. She hates going to work each day and being so tired at the end of the day. It often makes her short with them. The money she makes at her job is minimal and hardly seems worth it. Especially around the Christmas season!

One evening she was watching her daughters play with their favorite fashion dolls and knew what their presents this year could be - doll clothes. The next day on her lunch hour, she went to a local store and picked up a few material remnants and took them home. After the girls went to bed that night, she spent the next couple of hours making doll clothes. She had so much fun doing it because of all the memories that it brought back of her childhood. The next day, she went back and bought more remnants. She spent two hours each evening after the girls went to bed making clothes. At the end of the week, she has a nice collection of fashionable clothes for each girl’s doll.

She didn’t think about it again until after Christmas when her girls had their friends over to play. They had brought their fashion dolls too. All of the little girls wanted to use some of the clothes she had created for her daughters even they had gotten new clothes for their dolls!

Now Joan spends her time at home with her daughters instead of working. Together they create new designs and spend their weekends going to the local flea markets. While her daughters sit and play with dressing up their dolls, she takes care of the customers. She no longer has to work a job outside her home!

–You Can Do This Too!

This is one of the most economical ways to stay at home and make money since the startup costs are very minimal especially if you already own a sewing machine. Fabric remnants make the perfect material for fashion doll clothes. Because they are remnants, they are also very cheap even for the finest of fabrics! Since dolls don’t go out into public, you can also get as creative as you want with the costumes!

Other things you might need are small snaps for closures, threads to match your materials and a couple of patterns. One good free source of patterns is on the Internet. Many Web sites offer free fashion doll patterns.

You do not need to limit yourself to just sewing. Fashion doll clothes can be done in crochet and knitting too! You will find lots of free patterns on the Internet. Just make sure that you do not use copyrighted material for your sales unless the owner of the pattern gives you permission. That does not mean that you cannot alter the pattern making it into your own pattern. Let your creativity flow and make some changes. It will end up being something completely different from the pattern that you borrowed!

–Ways To Market Your Products

Flea markets offer a great outlet for your fashion doll clothes. Setting up a table can cost as little as $25 for the day. If all goes well, you should make your investment back in a few hours.

Another way to sell your doll clothes is by placing a small ad in your local newspaper. These ads are usually very cheap (sometimes only $5 or $6). Some smaller papers also offer free ads so look into all of your newspaper options.

Make up some business cards if you have a computer. Some office supply stores carry business card stock that you can put through your printer. Include your name and phone number and email if you have it so people can contact you easily. Give one to everyone you come in contact with.

If you have kids, tell them what you do. You can be sure they will go home and tell their mom. Before you know it, you may be making a special gift for a little girl’s birthday or Christmas.

Also if your kids go to a girl’s birthday party, make an outfit for them to use as their gift. Include your business card with the gift.

How The Residual Income Model Helps Us With Australian Small Business Ideas

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Do you fully understand the business ideas and concept behind residual income? It is really quite a smart and yet simple business model: “Do something once then get paid many times over again, for that clever initial action!” It could be the action of referring someone into an online business, like a nutritional MLM, for example.

Just as a singer/songwriter like Michael Jackson or Sir Paul McCartney, writes a song once then gets paid a neverending stream of royalty income - or like the writer of the Harry Potter series - writes an irresistible novel then gets paid over and over again as thousands or millions of copies fly off the downtown book shop shelves!

That is all variations of residual income. Or passive, automatic, monthly or annually recurring income. It’s a rather exciting prospect isn’t it? Many authors, playwrights and songwriters enjoy this recurring residual, royalty income! You can too, as a home based business entrepreneur, working with a telephone and the Internet from your home office. This is what I’ve done since 1997.

Certainly, there are many types of home based work online and internet businesses that use the residual income model. For example, nutritional MLM or multi level marketing businesses that typically sell supplemental nutritional products, women’s cosmetics and household goods, like home cleaners, etc., all use the Residual Income Model. It first appeared in about 1950 and has made millions of dollars for business owners and top sales performers. It is also known as referral marketing.

They are a type of referral marketing where you refer someone once to a global home based business compensation matrix or structure then you get paid monthly recurring income at a certain percentage while they remain a paying customer of the company. The simple, compressed matrix works best. Not a complicated binary structure. It looks good in theory but does require a lot of supportive work behind the scenes to make sure your referred downline of customers does not collapse or disappear! They will need your constant attention and coaching support, believe me.. Most people seem to work best with frequent leader’s help and reinforcement. You can even devise a system of rewards and incentives, like the large multi-level marketing companies always do. They offer holidays away to Hawaii, for instance, and frequent conferences with hotel accomodation.

Other very smart Internet marketers with online Small Business Ideas create their own passive income systems. I recently joined one such online business called “Passive Profit ROBOT”, created by Jeff Alderson of Florida, USA. I am extremely impressed with this system. It has genius-like simplicity because all I have to do is pass on a free marketing report, by referring people to my unique referrer web URL. That’s all I need to do! It is a very simple system where you refer people using The Internet, then you get paid regularly as they purchase marketing software and business information products through the Paypal and Clickbank merchant systems. Joining these merchant payment systems as an affiliate is a breeze too!

How to Work From Home with Young Children

How to Work From Home with Young Children

It is not easy to work from home with young children. The pros and cons should be carefully considered. However, if you feel it suits your family then your children WILL thank you. Many mothers and fathers find that the financial demands of a family requires two incomes. However, when the cost of childcare combined with transportation and other necessities of work end up voiding the financial benefits, some parents decide that the best way to make ends meet is to care for their own children while working from home.

Taking this step has both benefits and drawbacks. How are they best handled so that all responsibilities are met and you and your children are happy?

Have a Schedule

Creating a schedule for your workday is important in balancing the limited time available for work and children. Your children may not have all your attention all the time, but setting aside regular intervals of dedicated time for them will make your day, and theirs, more pleasant.

When planning your time, use it wisely. For instance, making meals could be done quicker if you do it yourself, but it will become an activity and entertainment to your pre-schooler if they are involved. Using evening, early morning and nap time for work is also wise.

Your children will accept their ‘free time’ without you more readily if they know that they do not have to pry you from your work to get attention. Using intervals of time for them will assure your children of your interest and love while enabling you to complete work as undistracted as possible.

Get Out Of the House

If possible, take time every day to get out of the house. A walk around the block, a trip to the mall, or a visit with friends.

It is beneficial for you to step away from the demands of work and it is good for your children to have your undivided attention.

See People

It is far too easy to get caught up in balancing work and children while neglecting your own needs. See people. At the park or with a neighbor, you need adult interaction to clear your head and refresh you.

Share the Load

Whether that means hiring outside help for some of the child care or housework, or just having a supportive mate who recognizes that working from home is as time consuming as working away, do not plan to work, care for children and do all the housework without assistance.

It is not easy to work from home with young children. The pros and cons should be carefully considered. However, if you feel it suits your family then your children WILL thank you. You will enjoy many aspects of your children that other parents miss and your children will benefit from knowing they always have a parent home for them.

How to Work at Home as a Data Entry Processor

How to Work at Home as a Data Entry Processor

Getting started working at home can be quite overwhelming and confusing. The first things I will cover here are scams. They are all over the Internet, especially when it comes to data entry!

5 Tips on Scams:

1. If it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is.

2. If they ask you to pay in order to work for them, it IS a scam. You should never pay anyone else to work for them. They should be paying you! Some will claim that the money is needed to pay for specific software necessary for the job. There should be no processing fees, application fees, or any other kind of fee. Also, if you want to start your own business online, do not pay someone else who says that they will help you. The best way to start your own business online is to do it yourself. The bottom line is that legitimate companies will not charge you anything to work for them.

3. Do not search online for data entry jobs, or work from home jobs. What you will find in your search results will be an overwhelming amount of scams. Instead, search for companies that are looking for freelancers and then sift through to find data entry positions. You will still find many scams, but you are more likely to find some legit opportunities. Just be cautious and read everything on their site carefully and thoroughly.

4. Ask for a list of other employees or contractors with their contact information. Contact those people and ask about their experience with the company. If they refuse to provide that information, do not accept the opportunity.

5. Use your intuition. You have the right to ask as many questions and conduct as much research as you want before you accept a work at home position. If they are too pushy, or begin to get rude you have just shown yourself that this is probably not someone you want to work for.

How to get work:

The search will not be easy. Struggling past all of those scammers will get tiresome and aggravating. With the above information, you will at least be able to identify a scam and avoid it.

Try looking for companies that hire data entry processors from home, or those that keep you on file until a company contacts them for help on a project. Remember to search for freelance positions or freelance job banks first.

Many more companies are realizing the benefits of hiring a freelancer to complete a project, or even work for them full time. They look for data entry processors that can type fast, usually between 50 and 80+ words per minute with an accuracy above 97% or higher. You can test your skills by finding a free online test to try your skills. There are also free software programs to help you hone your typing speed and accuracy skills. To take it even further, you can also take online courses, or get certified in office work. Your best bet is probably a certification in administration, that way you will be certified in much more than just data entry and you will be able to apply for a variety of office work jobs. Go get started on your search, but remember to be cautious!

Create and Sell Incense with a Geographical Twist

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Some people have traveled or used to live in different countries. Create scents that mimic the smells of each country. You can sell packages of 20 for $20.

Incense is commonly used today with great fervor and interest in all parts of the world. Incense is today a part of aromatherapy; certain scents are used to provide treatment for different ailments and conditions. It is a well known fact that some scents provide relaxation and tranquility for some people, in using this principle, you can create unique incense scents enjoyed and introduce new ones that will always be in demand once known by many.

Different countries have their own particular traditions, work, food, and popular spices and fragrances. These are typical smells of the people in the country, the common work places in different regions, the smells of vehicles and bakery smells etc., which set that country aside from other countries. So, you could actually collect oils and herbs from a particular country and create common scents mimicking that country. After smelling each scent, people will feel as if they are really traveling or living in that country.

Many people have traveled or perhaps lived in different countries for different reasons. So let them relive the moments they had spent in those countries by creating these incense having a geographical twist in them. There is no point in selling this incense for too high a price; somewhere between $20 for about 20 a package is a rather reasonable rate. With such a rate, you can be sure of people buying your incense. Too high a rate and the price will make people think twice about investing in your incense!

Creating incense is a meditative and enjoyable way for you to exercise your creativity. You just have to create exotic fragrances with which you will be able to ease the troubles of the day, purify the indoor space you have and relax. When creating incense, you have to powder the ingredients, powder by using a mortar and pestle or coffee grinder. However, electric coffee grinders are not suggested for use because the heat they produce leads to loss of chemicals in the ingredients. It is better if you freeze your resins for about 15 minutes before pulverizing, as it then gets easier to powder or ground the resins.

In the beginning, use incense mixtures with only three ingredients, perhaps a wood and two herbs. With experience, you can increase the ingredients. You will have to first powder herbs and wood and then mix it with the resin mixture, then grind these two mixtures together to create the required incense. The mixture then should be left to age for a couple of weeks. To make incense pellets, you have to add resins that help mold pellets like labdanum and even dry fruits. To make incense cones and sticks, add gum Arabic or tragacanth used to bind the sticks or cones.

You can find all the necessary ingredients on the internet. Of course, you will need some original investment for this business. However, in the process as you create incense that people like, use, and will buy, you will find that this is indeed a great business to invest in and generate a source of income.
