Mobile Tanning Safe

Mobile Tanning Safe

Offer a spray tanning service for people who do not want to expose their skin to harmful sunrays that can cause cancer. Wise busy people do not want to lie out in the sun or go to a salon or tanning booth. Many people simply do not want to put themselves in the danger of the sun’s rays or tanning booth rays for too long. However, they still want a healthy looking tan. You can help by offering a safe spray-on tan and you can provide this for them in their own home or office.

What a great service to offer people that are busy, but want a healthy looking tan. You can offer a mobile tanning business; bring a quick easy tan to them, sparing them the travel time they would have to sacrifice for a great looking tan. Once people find out about your service, your business should grow quickly.

Tanning salons are slowly becoming a thing of the past, now that people have found out that even they are not safe for the skin. The newest tan is the spray-on, it goes on evenly, slowly disappears, has realistic color, and most of all is safe. It is difficult to spray this type of tan on your own whole body evenly; this is where you can offer a specialized service. You will be able to spray them, all around if that is what you want to offer and they want.

Of course, like any service that you offer, you need to master the skill and be fast and efficient. You also want to educate yourself on the best devices to accomplish the task and also the best products to use for the best tans. You will also have to figure out a way to spray your clients well without spraying anything else around them. This may be something as simple as a large canvas cloth, or throwaway sheet on the floor. You might also be able to design a portable device much like a walk-in shower curtain that would contain the sprayer and keep in the spray, as the client slowly turns around inside of it.

Make sure that you check with your local area authorities for the required business licenses. This is good advice for any business that you might start, but especially important with a business like this, requiring your clients to disrobe to a point. You can stipulate up-front what that point will be. This could also make your service a bit questionable with the authorities, so you may want to explain exactly what it is you are offering and make sure that you take the needed precautions for your safety and that of your clients.

You could charge $20 or more per person, per visit. This could be a service that you could offer to your clients on a regular basis and charge per visits and then discount if they book a package deal of 10 visits for the price of 9, or something similar to that. You will most likely get repeat customers if they are happily satisfied! This will ensure a regular income and quick growth!

Mobile Hair Washing

Mobile Hair Washing

Offer a service to those who can no longer wash their own hair. Include a 10-minute head massage as well. You could charge $20 per washing. Charge an extra $10 for a head massage.

If you are aware of a need, fill it! We have a large group of baby-boomers that are reaching their late 50s and early 60s, with millions more to follow. Offer to wash people’s hair for them in their homes. It can cost quite a bit of money to regularly visit a salon when you really don’t need a trim or styling.

Why not offer to only wash the customers’ hair for them and if they would like one, offer to give them a 10-minute head massage for an extra charge. You could charge $20 per washing and charge an extra $10 for a head massage.

There are many options you have with this type of business, to travel to customers’ homes to offer this service or offer it in a salon setting. If you already work in a salon, you could offer this service with your many other services. You might also be able to rent a space in a salon to offer just a hair washing service. You can make much more money though if you choose to visit people in their homes and offer your service, you just need to make sure that you have the proper facilities to accomplish the hair washing.

If choosing to offer this service in the privacy of homes, you will need to carry some sort of special chair or special washbasin or attachment for a sink basin. Some homes may already have a comfortable way to wash hair, but if not, you need to be prepared with items that you can make your hair washing work successfully in different homes. Even an attachable hose sprayer might be helpful for some.

If you are able to make the investment, and are planning a full time business experience, the ultimate situation would be to own, and use a small recreation vehicle (RV) that has a salon chair and sink installed in it. You could drive your salon up to your customers’ residence to wash their hair for them. Just make sure that access to the RV is not difficult for them. It might require you to install a lift for them also, so they can comfortably enter the vehicle.

This service will appeal to many people that are having trouble washing their hair on their own. So look in areas of your community that would welcome this special service, like retirement housing, convalescent communities, housing for the disabled, etc. These would be the areas to target with the advertising of your services. You might also offer your services in a gift certificate form; this could be purchased as a special gift from someone that cares.

Word of mouth advertising can be the best also. Offer your customers a free head massage after their wash, for each person referred to you by them. It could be surprising how many free massages you will be giving and new customers loving your services you will have all of a sudden.

This could be a great full-time business idea if you choose or a great part-time business idea if you need an extra income. Mobile hair washing could be a profitable business idea worth your time and effort. You will more than likely meet many new nice people too!

The Omnipresent Relaxer

The Omnipresent Relaxer

This is not magic but a great business idea where you not only earn money and appreciation but also make great friends. People feel relaxed the moment you meet them. Zero investment and huge returns is what makes this business idea great.

A masseur, who is available on call, is what we are talking about here. So, be it a hotel or an office or someone’s home, you are always ready to reach the place and provide a relaxing massage to your customer. Stress has lead to increased emphasis on relaxation techniques like massage (see http://www.prweb.com/releases/2005/4/prweb227558.htm) and the demand for such (on-the-go) services has really increased in the last few years.

You can operate this business in two ways:

You can either provide the massage by yourself i.e. if you have some skills on that front (or if you are ready to undergo some kind of training to learn that) or

You can hire masseurs to work for you. It’s really your choice.

However, once you start getting more business than you can handle, you will have to hire more masseurs (or turn down the prospective clients)

The most important thing in this business (and in any business) is to get clients. Advertise in the classifieds sections in local newspapers. Also, setup a simple but elegant website. A website will not only help you reach customers at a small cost but will also give a more professional look to your business. Mail your brochures to corporate offices (they have big budgets for employee welfare related services).

Tip: Print gift certificates for your business and sell them to corporations and individuals.

Another way to advertise is to seek help of friends and acquaintances in spreading the word around. Supply them with multiple copies of your brochure and ask them to forward it to the appropriate department in their offices or to other friends. Check with the local health and fitness clubs and gymnasiums, and if they allow, place flyers or leave brochures at their premises. Similarly, you can also leave your brochures at holiday resorts and post them on bulletin boards of restaurants. Also get pamphlets distributed at busy crossings in the city. You can get the contact details of various businesses and fitness centers through yellow pages and through the Internet. Another idea is to participate in trade shows and fairs and provide on-the-spot head or shoulder massage at a very low price (just to draw the interest of people). Give away your brochures to people who visit your booth.

When deciding on your fee, you should keep in mind the going rate of other masseurs in the town and also consider the conveyance costs. You can offer bulk discounts to the corporations and others.

If you need to recruit masseurs for the job, you can place a ‘Wanted’ ad in the local newspapers. You should look for masseurs that are located at different places in the city (i.e. at all corners of the city) so that your massage service can reach your customers very quickly.

You don’t really need any investment for starting this business. Massage oils and a bit of advertising is the only expense and the returns are enormous.

Natural Cosmetics

Walk through the cosmetics section of a department store and you will find literally hundreds of different creams, lotions, powders, glosses and other assorted items that promise to enhance your sex appeal, take years off your skin, fill in wrinkles and zillions of other to-good-to-be-true offers. Well this article tells you how you can make money using time tested natural cosmetics.

You Can Make Money Naturally!

Walk through the cosmetics section of a department store and you will find literally hundreds of different creams, lotions, powders, glosses and other assorted items that promise to enhance your sex appeal, take years off your skin, fill in wrinkles and zillions of other to-good-to-be-true offers.

If you believe any of the hip slogans, you could find yourself paying a fortune trying to keep wrinkles from appearing or to make them disappear. What did women do before all these scientific breakthroughs and chemicals? They used natural cosmetics, of course.

Everything from oatmeal to milk can be used to the same as expensive creams in the department store, minus the chemicals. In the eco-friendly world of today, anything natural is good and you can use that to earn some big bucks.

Your first step will be to find some recipes. Your local library can usually provide a book or two on the subject. Or do a search on the internet, talk to your grandmother, etc.

Choose several recipes to test. Make sure the ingredients are available in your area or it could be costly to bring them in. Avoid recipes that require refrigeration, these will be difficult to sell. You want easy to use items that require minimal preparation. These might include facial scrub mixes that just need a few drops of water to be added or fully prepared creams.

Once you have mixed up your test batches, give them out to friends to try. Have them give you honest responses and either discard or adjust the recipe accordingly. For example, if a cream has a particularly bad smell, add another drop of essential oil. It will take a little time to narrow down your products to the ones that work and that will be included in your final product line.

Creams and lotions should be marketed in tins or tubs of plastic or glass. See if you can find a local supplier for them and offer a couple of size options to your clients. You can print labels up on your computer, the simpler the better, using pre-cut label paper to make things easier.

Before launching your new business, check the laws in your area to be sure that marketing cosmetics is allowed without a special license. Stay away from false promises such as “Guaranteed to remove wrinkles in a week’s time!” and stick to more truthful statements like “Includes chamomile to soothe irritation”.

Growing your own herbs and drying them is a good way to ensure high quality and lower priced goods, and could branch out into other areas such as teas. Whether you use your own plants or another source, keep the quality level up to ensure repeat customers.

Offer Waxing in Home

Offer Waxing in Home

It is a stress to go to a salon to get your legs waxed every week. However, most women prefer this method to shaving. It is more convenient, but it is expensive and time consuming. Eliminate both of those problems by offering in home waxing services. You could charge $20 per customer plus the cost of travel. You could even hold waxing parties where more than one woman (or man) is waxed at a time. You should take a beauty class, which you can find in your local yellow pages, but it is not necessary.

Beauty is something all women have to maintain; and a part of the routine beauty treatment involves removing all that unsightly hair found on hands and legs. Some women prefer waxing the hair off, and others shaving it off. However, to the metropolitan woman, sometimes going to the parlor to have these jobs done proves to be time consuming, and a chore.

Keeping this in mind, you could offer them door-to-door service where you visit them in their house every week, just to have their legs waxed. Many women would welcome this idea. It not only relieves them of the tension of traveling to the parlor, they do not have the tension of leaving their household chores or children to visit the parlor. You just have to visit them at the time they find convenient, and relieve them of the chore of waxing their legs.

You could charge a reasonable charge of about $20 per customer, and some extra for your traveling charges. There is no point in charging too high a rate for your services, and then you will not be able to expect too many customers calling on you. You could also offer to hold waxing parties, where more than one woman will be present to have their legs waxed. You could hold this party in a specific place, where these customers will gather to have their legs waxed. Of course, you will have to have some good advertising for this, wherein people will get to know about your services and the parties.

Today’s modern world also has men interested in waxing their legs. So, you could, and should be ready to cater to their needs too. Be ready for those men who may request you to have their legs waxed by you. In fact, you may also be asked to have waxing parties where men also will be involved!

To start this home waxing service, you have to have some beauty knowledge. This knowledge is acquired in most beauty classes. You should be able to find them by looking at the advertisements in the yellow pages. Remember also, there may be required licenses in certain places for this form of business, a good place to find this out is at these classes. If you do not find out in these classes, make sure you check with the authorities before starting your business. The authorities may require you to understand the health codes that may apply too.

Once you have completed the beauty class, you may as well invest in some waxing material like wax and peel off strips to peel off the wax. You will obviously need a vehicle for this business too! It is extremely important that you are punctual getting to your appointments, this will help you to be able to work with more customers in a day.

It would be better for you if you have some sort of advertising strategy for your waxing services; like business cards, and by informing the local woman’s clubs or societies. Once people get to know about your services, you are bound to have more and more people wanting and needing your services.

It is not necessary that you offer only waxing services; you could also offer some other services like facial and beauty masks and manicures and pedicures. You would really be surprised with the number of people practically falling over you to have you attend to their beauty needs!

Build A Small Business And Fire Your Boss

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Small businesses and home based businesses could be considered the heart of the US economy. I am going to start by introducing you to home small or based business opportunities.

There are multiple types of businesses that can be done from home. Before you start your business, you need to think about what type of business you want to run.
* Sell products you have on hand. You can have a product that you sell. You can buy in bulk and sell individual things for profit. One item that is really popular right now is acai berry juice.
* Sell products that other people own or created. This can be anything from candles to make-up to lingerie. You can even sell information products that other people created. There are places that allow you to sell everything from guitar lessons to hemroids treatment guides. You don’t have to do anything other than generate traffic and cash the paychecks.
* Distribute service for a larger company. There are programs that allow you to market everything from electricity to phone service. Several companies like Ambit Energy have business opportunities that allow you to make money by helping them sell electricity.
* Franchise. Join an established business as an independent owner. You will get instant name recognition, a proven system, and a very high chance of long term success. This business model has turned McDonalds into a worldwide giant, but they started out as a small business. The downside is that franchises can be very expensive to start.

Saving money on your taxes is one of the best reasons for starting a business. There are some great books out there that detail the tax benefits of running a home business so you can learn a lot from a little bit of reading. You will want to use a tax professional though just to make sure you don’t break any rules. If you are used to doing your own taxes, this will be a new expense, but if you knew you could give somebody $100 and they would give you $1000 or more back, wouldn’t you do it.

To get your business started, you will need to advertise your business so other people know what you are selling. This is an area that tends to cost a lot money and big companies spend millions of dollars on business advertising. There are some free or low cost options that can help you get your business going. Once you make it big, you can start spending more money on advertising and build your business even more.

  • Give out business cards. Get business cards made and hand them out every chance you get. When you strike up a conversation the check out line give them a business card when you leave, after you eat at a restaurant leave one at the table, or any other time you can get the word out. Business cars only cost a few pennies each so they are a pretty cheap way to spread the word.
  • Build a website. There are so many easy ways to put up a website now that it really is a business must. Heck, you can put one up right here on Hubpages in no time.
  • Use classified ads. There are many free and low cost classifed ad newspapers out there. You probably have a few in your local area and you can find others on the internet.
  • Put a link at the bottom of your emails. Most email systems allow you to put a signature at the bottom of every email. You can put something like \”check out my great widgets at www.mysite.com\”.
  • Word of mouth. Tell everybody you know about your new business and ask them to tell their friends too.
  • Rent a billboard or put signs in your yard. Ask friends and family to put up signs too.
  • Put an ad on your car. Once you have a website or a business phone number, you can have them stenciled onto the back window of your car for the whole world to see.

There are many more ways out there to advertise. Be creative and spread the word. There is a certain percentage of people that consider buying your product or service that will buy. That means that the more people you get to look at it, the more money you will make.

There are many great opportunities out there to make money with a small or home based business. Unfortunately, there are people out there who will try to cheat you and steal your money. A little bit of research before you start can save you a whole lot of trouble and money. There are a couple easy things you can do to avoid scams.

Check the video below if you are looking for a home business idea. I would be glad to help you get started.

How to Become a Personal Trainer

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

How to Become a Personal Trainer

According to Wikipedia.com, a personal trainer is a fitness professional who is hired for private instruction. Generally thought to be a commodity afforded only to the rich and famous, personal trainers are now widely available for a variety of people with a variety of goals (and with a variety of budgets). A trainer will help his or her employer maintain exquisite physical condition by designing a specialized exercise regiment for said client. There are many trainers who offer their clients a range of service from nutrition advice, to postural exercises, to behavior change.

So, if you enjoy staying in shape and eating healthy, you may enjoy teaching others how to exercise by becoming a personal trainer. It can be very rewarding helping someone in need of instruction and support during exercise, whether the client wants to lose weight, get toned, or just change their routine and make sure they are doing everything correctly. Most often, people under the instruction of a personal trainer have much better results rather than depending on themselves to get to the gym or exercise at home.

5 Steps to Get Started:

1. Have What It Takes?
Personal trainers need to have a variety of skills. You should be systematic, enduring, supportive, persistent, organized, a successful motivator and a great listener. You should be self-disciplined and enjoy working with people. You don’t have to have the perfect body to be a trainer, but you should be a good role model for your clients.

2. Getting Certified
There are many choices for getting certified. You must have a certification as a personal trainer to begin work, whether you work for a gym, become self-employed, or create your own business. There are many places to get this certification. If you are going to work at a gym, they should help you in this process. They will probably give you the information and tell you to come back when you are certified. You can also get certified through a traditional school, or through distance learning. Some great places to get certified are:

American Council on Exercise (http://www.acefitness.org/getcertified/default.aspx)
American College of Sports Medicine (http://www.acsm.org/certification/index.htm)
National Council on Strength & Fitness (http://www.ncsf.org/)
National Federation of Personal Trainers (http://www.nfpt.com/)
International Sports Sciences Association (http://www.issaonline.com/)

3. Market Yourself
Start making flyers, newsletters, business cards, a website and maybe some local seminars. You can begin by posting flyers in sporting goods stores, getting friends and family members to spread the word and sending out flyers and newsletters to them. Offer free consultations and seminars to get people to know your services.

4. Be Indispensable
Getting a certification is not a guarantee that you’ll get clients or, even keep those clients. To advance your skills, consider joining a national organization, such as IDEA Health & Fitness (http://www.ideafit.com/) to go to personal trainer workshops and seminars.

5. Options
You don’t have to work in a gym or even work for yourself. Personal trainers work in all kinds of different areas. If you are looking for something a little different, try these jobs as a personal trainer: corporate fitness, cruises, resorts, spas, online training and more.

The Five Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation

The Five Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation

Everyone strives to look and feel younger. The Five Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation are a specific set of exercise that will make anyone feel healthier, more flexible, stronger, and have better stamina. Offer classes and informational products to teach people this beneficial type of exercise.

If you are skilled in this type of exercise, this would be an excellent ‘business idea’ to pursue. Offer classes and informational products to teach people this type of exercise.
Teach people that want to learn how to take advantage of the program for their own health benefits. Your students will already be motivated to learn from you once they find out the benefits.

You may need to invest in advertising at first, let people know that you are able to teach them to find health benefits from learning these exercises in your classes, or individual training sessions. Once people start seeing changes in your students’ health and stamina they will start asking how they have made the changes.

Check your local area to see what the cost of other exercise programs are there. You should be able to charge the average fee charged by other types of exercise instructors in your area. Once you are established and have many students you will be able to start charging more for your services.

Check with local schools, community centers, and malls to see if you can teach and offer your classes there. You will have to give part of your profits to them for the use of their areas. You should still be able to make a sizeable amount of money.

If you choose to teach people in their own homes or offices, you will be able to charge more per person, because you will be traveling and bringing your services to them. You can also offer to teach small classes with people in their homes. Give the host a discount for using their home as the place to meet together for the exercise programs.

When your students start feeling better from the exercises, they will share their reasons with others that will also be interested. This will help you to gain more students for your classes. Encourage them to give your information to others. Advertising by word of mouth is always one of the best forms of advertising.

It is important to have business cards with your contact information on them and brochures about this specific form of exercise program, and its benefits. You also want to include your options of class sizes and fees charged for them. If there are books that you would like your students to read also, try to make them easily available to them. To make more money on these exercise programs you may want to write your own book and make it available to your students.

At first when you are looking for students, you may also offer your classes to large companies, offering to teach classes to their employees, within the building they work in. Stress the health benefits offered to those that attend the classes. The company may choose to foot the bill and offer the space for classes in their building.

Pedicure on Wheels

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

Pedicure on Wheels

Offer a service to people to come into their home to do pedicures for them. Some target markets might be pregnant women, those who cannot take care of their own feet, those who would rather have it done in their home and any others. A good selling point is that we often take care of our bodies well but often forget to take care of our feet. You could charge $50 for a soak, un-roughen, clip, shape, and polish.

You will need pedicure supplies, such as a foot soaking tub, emery boards, pumice stones, foot files, toenail clippers, Epsom salts, and an assortment of nail polish colors. Having a great personality and a good people-person will help a lot.

Doesn’t this sound like a wonderful job to have? Who could turn down a pedicure service offered in the comfort of their home? I think it would be a-dream-come true for me. I can think of many friends that I would love to give this service to as a gift too. You probably have those friends that have everything too, what a great gift idea. No one can have too many pedicures!

Another target market could be for pregnant women, at one point it gets so hard to reach their feet to put shoes on, let alone give themselves a pedicure. When pregnant the feet and ankles take a lot of stress too, even more reason that they would appreciate this service. Then there are the elderly and those that might be disabled also that might have trouble taking care of their feet. More importantly there are the ones that would love having this service offered in the comfort of their homes.

Your first investment would include all of the pedicure supplies that you would need; such as a foot soaking tub, emery boards, pumice stones, foot files, toenail clippers, Epsom salts, and a full assortment of nail polish colors. (Some customers might also prefer that you use their own supplies too, offer to do this if they prefer. I know that I would prefer using my own supplies, because I have a fear of other people’s germs.)

Something that you should always stress is that you sterilize all of the utensils that you use with your customers. When it comes to items like emery boards and pumice stones, you may have to buy one for each customer and keep them in a container that has their personal name on it, so that you use them only on one customer. Also, check your area and find out what the local laws are for businesses offering your services.

This would also require a reliable source of transportation. In a large city, that offers a good bus service, a bus may be all that you will need to run your business, plus a large container or suitcase on wheels that you can carry your supplies in from one home to another. If you can afford it, a vehicle to get to your customers homes would be good too. If you have to drive, or travel, a lengthy amount of miles for some of your customers, you could require an additional fee for the added expense and your time for the trip.

As for how much to charge for your service, check your area and find out how much salons charge for a pedicure in your area. This can vary quite a bit, but remember that you are offering to come to their home for this service. Try to charge at least $50 for a soak, un-roughen, clip, shape, and polish. You could charge $10 extra for a massage if they would like one too.

This could prove to be a very good business for the right person. If you like giving pedicures, have a relaxing personality, and are a people-person this could prove to be a lucrative business idea for you!
